First Impressions on the second setup

I finally got the deflation issue sorted out. The rubber ring around the sensor was too thin, allowing air to pour out. Now we are good to go!

To make a long story short - I really like everything about this setup. Sure, it doesnt have the bling of the 18's, but the car looks sportier and stealthy. The wheels have a unique design that makes them appear larger than they actually are. The thin spokes go almost all the way to the lip of the rim. They are simple and clean w/ no fuss. They are also lightweight at 11.9 lbs each. I didn't expect the wheels to stick out as far as they did. I have a bit of rubbing in the back and plan to get that solved in the next day or 2.

I am equally impressed with the tires. These things are sticky, but wont wear out in an hour. The tread is very agressive with thick blocks of rubber on the inside and outside. I have not been able to test performance just yet, I don't want the rubbing in the rear to dig into the tires. But so far, they ride well - better than the 14's with their touring tires and seem to soak up some of the bounciness of the springs.

Saving weight has been somewhat of a priority as well. Tires weigh 20.0 lbs and wheels 11.9 - 31.9 lbs each compared to 32.6 lbs stock and 39.8 lbs of the 18's.

Here's how it has along come so far.

New look

Got the wheels and tires installed today and they look amazing. Very subtle, but also sporty and purposeful. The wider 205 tires look stout also and the tread looks really aggressive. Tires are Nitto NeoGen 205/50-15. I wanted to keep the TPMS, so I had Walmart remove the TPMS out of the stock wheels, install them in the Konig's and then install the tires. Unfortunately, when I installed the combo on the car, the front tires looked flat and when I double checked them, they read 10 psi......rears were in similar shape. I ran down to the gas station and filled them up only to find them low again less than an hour later.... So these will be going back to have them redo the install. These things called tires are supposed to hold air in!

But I noticed a few things in my brief stint behind the wheel. The wheels feel more substantial than the stock wheels, but not heavy like the 18's. They just seem more solid. The ride has improved, amazingly, over the 14's with touring tires. We will get these issues ironed out. On to the pics!

Tires

Discount Tire Direct comes thru for me again! I ordered my tires late Monday night and they arrived Thursday at noon. Not bad at all. The tires look sick and I cant wait to get them on. They look very aggressive in person. I came in to work early to leave and get them mounted tonight! I weighed everything and the total is 11.9 lbs for the wheel, 20.0 lbs for the tires = 31.9 lbs compared to the 18's combo 39.8 lbs - 7.9lbs difference at each corner! I will compare this to stock too when I remove the stock wheels.

Other Cool Fits

Inspiration - Favorite Fit

Here's a pic of one of the coolest modified Fits that I have seen. Its on FitFreak.net, but not sure the owner's name. It's simple and clean, not over done. Some of the same mods will be done to my car (but not the white wheels). I like the J's Racing front grill, black headlights, JDM folding mirrors, all black lower grill, smoked LED taillights and the tint.

Where I am now...

I wanted to take stock of what I have done at this point:

Suspension: Tein S-Tech springs, Progress rear swaybar, custom hardware

Stereo: JVC KW-XR610 double din head unit, Polk Audio DB651S 2-way speakers, custom mounts in front

Wheels and Tires: 15x6.5 +38 Konig Feather gloss black, Nitto NeoGen 205/50-15 tires (will be installed within 5 days), hub centric rings and TPMS sensors installed, ARP wheel studs, Muteki chrome lugs

Exterior: Custom stock headlights (inserts painted semi-gloss black, 500 degree engine enamel paint), Honda optional equiptment fog lights, all front plastics painted satin black, rear emblems shaved, LED license plate lights, Vivid racing license plate frame

Design details

My vision for the Fit is a "lay low", stealth style. I am sticking with a few black accents. These will really pop when the wheels are installed. I was pumped that the black headlights came out so well. This was a mod that I was planning to do later on and buy a another set of headlights that were already black, but I saved $300+ redoing my existing lights. Black headlights on Hondas are usually reserved for high performance cars - Civic Type R, S2000, JDM Integra Type R. The stock silver inserts just caused the housing and reflector bowls to just blend together. The black makes it all pop.

I wanted the lower grill to fade back and look all one piece instead of the 6 different pieces. I spray tinted the fog lights as well so that they don't stand out. I wanted the lower grill, fog light housings to blend together and visually create 1 piece. Done. When the tint and wheels are put on, it should all tie in.
